I tried this, and I think they are not good tankmates at all. The problem is that the Rosy barbs are incredibly greedy fish, and whatever food you put in there, they will eat it. That leaves the hillstreams only algae to eat. I had a couple of hillstreams in a tank with Rosy barbs. Living on just algea, they lived 3/4 year and 1 3/4 years respectively. I felt I could have done alot better by them. I think the danio is a better suggestion. So is the white cloud mountain minnow. Both of these are much less greedy than the barbs!
